The Shojo Temple

York Wilson Paintings on the Poetry of Hagiwara Sakutaro

The Shojo Temple garden
Is full of moonlight.  Come,
Come out and join our badger friends
Drumming on their tum-tum-tum.

Don’t let the priest do better than you.
Come, make the party hum!
O don’t let the priest do better than you.
Everybody, come, come, come!

The Shojo Temple flowers
To their full bloom here come,
And we’re all as merry as the moon-mad badgers
Drumming on their tum-tum-tum.
