The Seven Lively Arts

This section features an open book, in which the left page depicts a man and a woman. On the facing page, a sailing ship acknowledges the importance of quest in western literature. The equestrian battle indicates war and conquest, while a proverb by Confucius is a reminder of the importance of  proper education: "Learning without thought is labour lost; thought without learning is perilous."
