Charles Pachter

One of Canada's more successful contemporary artists, Charles Pachter is a painter, printmaker, sculptor, designer, historian, and lecturer. His images of the Queen and Moose, and the Maple Leaf Flag have become popular icons of Canadian art. He has received innumerable honours over the decades. In 2001, a major retrospective of his work "Mind's Eye" was held at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo. Other retrospective exhibitions have toured France and Germany.  While not confined to one identifiable group or school, his work has left an indelible impact on other artists and the mainstream public. His most recent work can be viewed at his Moose Factory Gallery in downtown Toronto, just steps away from the Art Gallery of Ontario. In 2000, Charles Pachter was named to the Order of Canada.
